Lammas 2026

Lammas is the first of the harvest festivals (celebrated on or around August 1st).

Lammas customs are rooted in pre-Christian Anglo-Saxon and ancient Celtic traditions, when the summer sun begins to wain and crops are ready to be gathered. Communities worked together to harvest the crops. Afterwards festivals and celebrations of gratitude of abundance occurred, whihc made the work easier.

Even though most of us don’t live in an agricultural world, honoring Lammas seems like a good idea to tap into gratitude and community in general, especially when the celebration is universal.

Creating or participating in a Lammas celebration can feel, well magical.

Here are some ideas:

  • Host an outdoor dance party! Dancing has always been part of Lammas traditions

  • Tell stories about Lammas

  • Share tips on growing your own produce this season

  • Create altars decorated with strands of dried grasses, fresh fruits, and vegetables of all kinds.

  • Eat freshly baked bread.

  • Place a vase of sunflowers on your table

My Tarot query for Lammas 2026 is: How to create community.

In this card pull the card meanings taken from Tarot in Motion have been specifically altered with the question in mind and focused on how having a Lammas celebration can shift the idea of community.
